It is history now that the all-conquering Springboks came to New Zealand and Australia this year for the opening Tests of the 2010 Tri Nations and left with three defeats and not even a bonus point to show for their efforts.

The scary thing for the Wallabies going into the second Bledisloe Cup Test at Christchurch next Saturday is that the All Blacks were slightly off their best at Melbourne. Despite this, they scored 7 tries to 3, and more crucially were able to go up a gear in their attack virtually at will.

In boxing terms, the Wallabies won a clear-cut points decision against the Springboks in Brisbane on Saturday, as opposed to the knockout of the Springboks at Auckland and TKO at Wellington inflicted by the All Blacks.

Bakkies Botha has been correctly booted out of rugby until September for his idiotic head-butt on Jimmy Cowan early on in the New Zealand 32 – South Africa 12 Test at Eden Park. It will be interesting to see if the Springbok selectors continue with Botha for their campaign in RWC 2011.
