Meads Cup battle a thriller
It's all about winning the right to host next week's semi-finals in the final round of Meads Cup matches this weekend.
One place remains to be decided between Horowhenua Kapiti which has 19 points, South Canterbury which has 18 and Wairarapa Bush on 17.
Wairarapa Bush has the toughest job – it is hosting Mid Canterbury in Masterton. However, it looked the goods in its first half showing against South Canterbury last week only to pay the price for a slackening in its second half effort.
A solid defensive team, Wairarapa Bush will need to be right on its game if it is to deny Mid Canterbury and save itself an early finish to the season.
Wanganui and Poverty Bay are playing for the right to host a semi-final and a fine contest is in store.
Horowhenua Kapiti and South Canterbury will be playing with the fourth place in mind, so long as Wairarapa Bush doesn't cause any confusion.
There's a top of the table clash between the West Coast and North Otago in the Lochore Cup, a likely preliminary contest before the final in a fortnight.
King Country and Buller can't be headed for semi-finals places in their respective matches against East Coast and Thames Valley.
